Android Application to Control a Robot, Robotic Arm or RC Device
- Technology Benefits
- Provides easy and intuitive controlsAdaptable to a wide range of applicationsCompatible with virtually any Android deviceVideo feedback connection
- Technology Application
- innovative robotic systems, system integrators, grippers
- Detailed Technology Description
- The application can run on virtually any Android device, and can enable up to six (6) degrees of motion in space (ex: robot, arm, car, boat, plane, drone, helicopter, etc.). The app provides easy and intuitive control for up to six individual degrees of movement including left and right, forward and backward, up and down, tilt, yaw and roll. In addition, the application can establish a video feedback connection for enhanced remote operation. For example, the application has already been successfully used at USF to control a wheelchair mounted Robotic Arm (WMRA). The WMRA has 7 joints to move in 3D space, including 3 translational and 3 rotational Cartesian coordinates. Motion sensors in the Android device provide control of the rotational movements, an intuitive touch screen interface provides control of the translational movements, and the video feedback connection provides a display of the WMRA current environment.
